Trade Fair hot-post of South America, São Paulo boasts 90.000 events a year; a trade fair every 3 days, which represents 75% of the Brazilian market. For anyone interested in Art, the last 5 days have been a marathon. The modernist Bienal building in Parque do Ibirapuera designed by Oscar Niemeyer and one of the cities iconic sites, was home to 80 exhibiting art galleries (10 from countries other than Brazil) holding c. 2.500 works in all mediums. Already in its 6th edition, SP Arte was inspired by art fair models promoted by ARCO in Madrid, Frieze in London and Art Basel in Switzerland – musts on the global art calendar onto which it is slowly making its way into as the best Art Fair to visit in South America. Below is a quick glimpse at SP Arte:

Later this year, September  21st through  December 12th São Paulo will hold its art Biennial, one of the most traditional Biennials on the globe, second only to Venice, the first of its kind. Keep tuned to TAPIOCA for more on the 29th São Paulo Biennial and if you intend to visit it, we recommend you start thinking about your trip soon!
